‘The Great Firewall of China is the combination of legislative actions and technologies enforced by the People's Republic of China to regulate the Internet domestically. Its role in internet censorship in China is to block access to selected foreign websites and to slow down cross-border internet traffic. The effect includes: limiting access to foreign information sources, blocking foreign internet tools and mobile apps, and requiring foreign companies to adapt to domestic regulations.’

This project is to discuss the ‘exclusive’ internet safeguard the great firewall of China. This policy had disturbed the citizens a lot since 2013, people complain about it, saying it ultimately affects them getting useful information online and restraint their liberty. Some of the extremes even think this policy is just an excuse to shut us up and force us to be the ‘marionettes’ that lack the ability of independent thinking because the government wants to destroy the country on purpose. However, from my perspective, it is quite incomprehensible that a government would like to destroy its own country on purpose. So, I wish to discover more about this policy by interviewing a few Chinese overseas students just like me, and see how they feel about this great firewall.
